I bought the Ikea metal rolling cart as soon as it came out. By the next catalog it was available in more colors and had dropped significantly in price. But, I don’t really mind. I love the color I have and I had the use of it for the year. It is really ideal to hold the things in my office that I want to be able to move to the dining room table and spread out, then put away and easily move back into the office.
We are in a new house now and I am getting settled. There are so many places I want to use the Ikea cart that I am going to have to buy another one. Until I get my COVID-19 vaccine, I’m not really going anywhere and the closest Ikea is an event. It’s about three hours away.
They ship, but not cheap. Then I noticed that the cart I had pinned was not from Ikea. It was from Amazon. Where I have gotten everything for the last year.
And somehow they have the Ikea racks on Amazon, too. Are they counterfeit? Is someone buying and reselling? I doubt it is Ikea selling on Amazon. But, with Amazon it is nearly as easy to send it back as it is to order it.
And there are other variations available from other companies.
The white one on the left above is from WB_L, about the most cheap Chinese sounding name I can think of. But, it was the first one that came up when I searched for sturdy. They do use the word sturdy over and over in their description. The dimensions are metric. And it is not cheap.
I picked the one in the center kinda at random. It is bronze, which is not a finish I see on a lot of them. And they show it in a laundry room, which is the next place I need one.
This is the one I have. This is not a picture in my house, that’s the photo from Amazon. My cart is holding way more.
Comparing these rolling carts, they are all about the same size. Some come with locking casters. Mine from Ikea does not have the locking casters, but I can’t say I’ve ever missed them. I don’t see my self trying to park it on a hill.
Most of the ones on Amazon don’t list their weight limit. The Ikea Raskog is rated to hold 40 pounds total, 13 and a fraction pounds per shelf. The Amazon Basics cart is listed to hold up to 11 pounds per shelf. The one from Seville Classics is rated for up to 19.8 pounds per shelf. It looks nearly identical to what I have.
